Countermeasures
The medic’s mission is to efficiently establish and extract the facts that enable treatment. When the patient is dishonest, the mission becomes reaching the Eureka moment of truth as soon as possible — cutting through the deliberate Fog of obfuscation.
03.1 Recognising a player who is not a patient
The Somatic Patient
No emergency exists, but the fact must be concealed at all costs. They choose a condition that must go to hospital, is complex, slow to diagnose, and rich in ambiguous signs.
The Super Plot
His key secret is: “I’m acting.” He frustrates structured assessment with delay, diversion, distraction and conflation — wasting time meant for the genuinely ill.
Ambush Seizures
When word games bore them, seasoned Narcissists seek bigger thrills — drawing medics in to attack without cause or warning. This is less a clinical assessment, more like a battle.
“Knowing the signs is one thing. Acting on them under pressure — and documenting them defensibly — is another.”
The App is built for exactly that moment. Hundreds of clinical algorithms, on-scene decision support, and integrated incident recording — for Paramedics, Emergency Doctors and Nurses.
03.2 The Mission — Reaching the Eureka Moment
Facts are critical in life and never more so than in Emergency Medicine. Time, drama and others’ emotions are playthings to a Narcissist — but correct, timely intervention is the difference between life and death for a genuine patient. Anything that delays care to a life-critical patient is unacceptable.
03.3 Beyond the Ambulance
The same logic, anywhere humans compete
Learn to recognise the dead-giveaways that you are facing a player rather than a genuine patient — and the same methodology applies to business transactions, personal relationships, work, academia and sport.
Develop your own methods of countering narcissistic exploitation, grounded in the schematics, not feelings.
